OUR BISHOP

Melvin A. Wilkins, Jr. was born August 21, 1965 in the city of Winston-Salem, NC; he is married to the former Sharessa T. Epps and is the proud father of two, Jairus and Isaiah. Bishop Wilkins was educated in the Winston-Salem / Forsyth County School System. He attended N.C. A & T University and Winston-Salem State University where he majored in Business Administration. He is presently employed with the Housing Authority of the City of Winston-Salem and is preparing for full-time ministry.   Reared in the home of his grandmother, Evangelist Mother Hattie Wilkins, he recognized the church as being his mainstay. He accepted Christ as his personal savior in November 1989, and was an active member of Cappadocia Holiness Church where Paul E. Jeter, Sr. was the pastor. He was a deacon for 4 years and received his call to the ministry in December 1994. He was ordained as an Elder in 1995. In August 1997 Bishop Wilkins founded New Generation Praise & Worship International Ministries, presently know as Greater New Generation Church. He was consecrated to the Bishopric in 2001. Having a call to nurture, train and support new pastors and their ministries. God has allowed him to be founder and Presiding Prelate of "United Churches in Unity Fellowship" (U.C.I.U.) and Kingdom Connection Covenant Fellowship. Bishop Wilkins is a preacher, teacher, anointed singer, and a friend to all. He is noted for his humility as a servant of the Lord and his favorite saying is to "God be the Glory."
